The Volume and Surface Area Estimation software generates accurate volume and surface area estimates for complex objects using
photogrammetric measurements.
The software enables easy integration of multiple stereo images to provide full coverage of complex objects. While stereo cameras are the
base requirement, it is also possible to integrate imagery from more than two cameras.
The Volume and Surface Area Estimation software has been specifically developed for use in marine science, where it provides an
accurate non-contact, non-destructive method for volume and surface area estimation
(see results in the JEMBE paper as shown at left.)
However the technology also has applications outside marine science.
The Volume and Surface Area Estimation software was developed at The University of Western Australia under the Coastal CRC,
and SeaGIS has an exclusive worldwide licence to distribute and further develop the software.
This software is generally packaged with the PhotoMeasure software.
